Jill studied photography and has a BFA from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and MFA from the University of Nebraska. She moved to Chicago in 1996 and worked in the photography industry while teaching part-time at Columbia College. With the onset of digital photography she missed the feeling of creating things with her hands and working in the darkroom. She started taking ceramics classes and was a studio assistant at the Evanston Art Center for ten years before she joined the Midwest Clay Guild, her current studio.
Jill exhibits her ceramic work nationwide and has been included in shows at Rockford Art Museum, Dubuque Museum of Art, Elmhurst Art Museum, James May Gallery, Contemporary Craft, Red Lodge Clay Center, Clay AKAR, LillStreet Art Center, The Clay Studio in Philadelphia, Baltimore Clayworks, Bradley University and many others.
Jill lives in Evanston, IL with her husband and two cats, Mochi and Frite. She is a senior research editor for Getty Images in Chicago.
